Internships

Why become an intern at MIND?

We are always open for interns to help us build and maintain the MIND Foundation’s projects and programs. Working as an intern is meaningful; interns’ work contributes directly to psychedelic research and education and ultimately helps establish safe and legal spaces for the psychedelic experience. Further, interns may be given opportunities to meet important authors, researchers, and therapists from the fields of psychedelic science, consciousness research, neuroscience, prevention and therapy.

Learn from our alumni

We are very grateful for all the interns and volunteers who have supported us in the past. Some of them share their experiences in our “Hall of Fame”. Check them out if you want to learn more.

Being part of this organization and understanding how it works helped me a lot improving some management and communication skills that will be important for my future work and personal life. Joana M., Portugal

I got to know lots of interesting people with shared interests, and to do valuable networking. This might translate into future collaboration projects, as I begin my career as a researcher in Spain. Óscar S., Spain

I gained insights into current challenges and future directions in the psychedelic field. It also provided valuable insights into the operations and strategies of a rapidly growing organisation. I am grateful to have learned from so many kind, motivated, and bright human beings. Thank you! Annie R., England

I had the possibility to experience the meeting point of social sciences and neuroscience, and I have gained a lot of knowledge about psychedelic research, mainly from the projects I worked on, but also from all the incredible people coming from different backgrounds. Naz A., Turkey

Internship Roles at MIND

Internships at MIND are designed as junior professional roles with real responsibility, not as introductory or observational placements.

As a small, mission-driven, non-profit organization working at the interface of science, public health, and education, we recruit interns selectively. At any given time, and to guarantee excellent mentoring, we can work with no more than three to four interns, each embedded in a clearly defined area of responsibility.

Our interns contribute directly to the development, delivery, and communication of programs that support the responsible integration of psychedelic therapies into public health care.

Who these internships are for

We are generally interested in applicants who:

  • Have completed at least a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Come from disciplines such as medicine, psychology, social sciences, philosophy, neuroscience, communications, marketing, anthropology, or cultural studies.
  • Are already well-informed about the risks and potentials of psychedelics in science, therapy, and/or society.
  • Bring prior work experience and professional maturity.
  • Are typically in their mid- to late-20s or older.

How we work

MIND operates with a lean structure and high expectations for autonomy and reliability.

Core tools used across all roles

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Asana for task and project management (Kanban-style workflows)

Role-specific tools are used where relevant and introduced during onboarding (e.g., Canva in Marketing).

Interns are expected to become operationally independent within a short period and to work confidently within these systems.

Who these internships are generally not for

These roles are usually not a good fit for applicants from fields such as art history, religious studies, linguistics, or data science, unless there is a clear and demonstrated overlap with the specific role requirements.

We do not offer exploratory, purely observational, or short-term trial internships.

Focus: Campaign support and content management

Role overview

As a Marketing Intern, you support the planning and execution of marketing campaigns and initiatives through structured content management.

You work within a team that sets strategic goals and priorities. Your primary responsibility is to translate inputs – such as research insights, program updates, or event announcements – into clear, high-quality content for MIND’s digital channels.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop social media content based on provided inputs and briefs.
  • Adapt content linguistically and conceptually for platforms such as LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Design posts using Canva templates in line with MIND’s visual identity.
  • Manage content workflows in Asana and coordinate timelines.
  • Support campaign planning and execution across programs and initiatives.

What this role requires

This role demands a high degree of adaptability, conceptual clarity, and creative problem-solving. Interns must be able to quickly understand complex subject matter – including psychedelic research and therapy – and turn it into accurate, engaging content.

Proficiency with Canva, Asana, Excel, and an understanding of platform-specific logic (especially LinkedIn and Instagram) are essential.
