University: University of Valladolid

Field of Study: Psychiatry

Academic title: Bachelor’s Degree

Internship period: March-May 2021

Main tasks during your internship: During my internship in MIND and OVID, I had the chance to participate in clinical rounds and sit during KAP (ketamine-assisted psychotherapy) sessions, as well as to collaborate in the elaboration of a research project to test the efficacy of OVID’s approach to treat depression and anxiety. I also worked with the blog translation team, and in gathering contacts for MIND’s database.

Motivation Statement: I have always been fascinated by the therapeutic potential of psychedelics, and an internship with OVID and MIND was a golden chance to improve my knowledge on such issue. I am also very interested in the intersection between psychiatry and psychiatry that psychedelics bring about, and being able to work with a multidisciplinary team from different backgrounds was a plus in this regard.

How did the internship benefit you? What insights did you gain?: I got the chance to learn from first hand how psychedelic-assisted therapy work, and gain insights from the team of therapist in OVID. Also, I got to know lots of interesting people with shared interests, and to do valuable networking. This might translate into future collaboration projects, as I begin my career as a researcher in Spain.
