Ruby Donahaye

Programs Intern

Ruby Donahaye

Former Augmented Psychotherapy Training Intern

University: Tulane University

Field of study: Psychology & Cognitive Studies

Internship Period: February – May 2023

Main tasks:

My main responsibilities involved supporting the APT team, particularly during on-site intensive weeks. This can involve organizational and administrative tasks related to the APT groups and curriculum, such as preparing and posting material for the participants, participant and applicant management, and calendar and attendance management.

Motivation Statement:

As I worked through my Bachelor’s degree, I felt that I was lacking access to deeper and more humanistic knowledge as well as knowledge about the therapeutic process in my education as my university focuses almost entirely on research and statistics. I began to take an interest in the influence of psychedelics as mental health treatment because I felt that in this way people could become equipped with the tools and perspective to work through issues at their core. This internship felt like the perfect way to both expand my knowledge of therapy and treatment as a whole as well as gain exposure to psychedelic research and be a part of turning psychedelic therapy into a reality.

How did the internship benefit you? What insights did you gain?:

Through this internship I’ve been able to learn so much and interact with so many people from all over the world. It’s really given me insight into a different perspective on life and a community that I had no access to before. I feel like my time here hasn’t just educated me but changed me as a person and given me so much knowledge that I can also apply to my own life and self-development.
