Dr. Simon Amar

Dr. Simon Amar completed his medical school and psychiatric specialty training at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He spent the last nine years working as a psychiatrist in private practice in Montreal, specializing in psychotherapy for depression, anxiety, trauma, and personality disorders. Since 2013, he has been following the MAPS research on MDMA-assisted psychotherapy. From 2016 to 2021 he was the Co-Principal Investigator and therapist for the Montreal site of the Phase 3 MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD trial. Since moving to Australia in 2022, he has been working as a therapist on the Monash University trial looking at psilocybin-assisted therapy for Generalized Anxiety Disorder
