You're warmly invited to join the next uniMIND Central Session, our monthly online journal club open to everyone interested in mind, brain, and consciousness research. Each session features a paper discussion with the first author present. Join us for an interactive discussion!

This session’s paper:
“Acute subjective effects of psychedelics in naturalistic group settings prospectively predict longitudinal improvements in trauma symptoms, trait shame, and connectedness among adults with childhood maltreatment histories”
by CJ Healy, M.A. (The New School for Social Research, New York)

In this prospective, longitudinal study, Healy and colleagues explore whether the acute effects of psychedelic experiences in naturalistic group settings—like ceremonies or raves—can predict lasting psychological benefits for adults with histories of childhood maltreatment. Results showed significant improvements in trauma symptoms, shame, and connectedness over two months, offering insight into the mechanisms behind psychedelic-assisted healing.
