Referrals for psychedelic treatment are rising, and patients increasingly arrive with strong, sometimes unrealistic hopes — often after long treatment-resistant courses in which conventional options have been exhausted. Patients' expectations shape outcome, safety, and the therapeutic alliance, and unmanaged expectation is both a clinical and an ethical liability.

In this session, we discuss: 

• What the current evidence supports — and where it stops 

• How responsibility is distributed across preparation, dosing, and integration 

• Why expectation management is a trainable clinical competence, not a matter of temperament
