Prof. Dr. David Nichols
David Nichols is a pharmacologist and medicinal chemist. He is Adjunct Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Nichols has worked in the field of psychoactive drugs since 1969. While still a graduate student, he patented the method that is used to make the optical isomers of hallucinogenic amphetamines. He is the founding president of the Heffter Research Institute. Besides psychedelic research, David Nichols has become one of the world’s leading researchers on dopamine and the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, and the cognitive and memory deficits of schizophrenia.
