Dr. Eric Schaanning is a seasoned leader in financial stability and risk management, with a career spanning academia, central banking, and the private sector. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematical Finance from Imperial College London, where his research focused on systemic risk and financial networks. He also earned an M.Sc. in Mathematics from ETH Zürich.
In his professional journey, Dr. Schaanning has held significant roles in central banking institutions, contributing to areas such as stress testing, macroprudential policy, cyber risk, and central clearing. In the private sector, Dr. Schaanning has led different risk management functions, overseeing both trading and banking books at various international banks.
His research interests include stress testing and systemic risk as well as cognitive biases in decision making. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Schaanning is deeply committed to advancing mental health initiatives and is an ardent advocate for discovering innovative treatments for depressive disorders.
